Make-A-Wish Arizona / 2022

After hosting a successful online fundraising campaign in April, the David R. Sellers Foundation is extremely pleased to announce that we have donated $10,000 to Make-A-Wish Arizona. This gift will help this amazing organization grant a wish for a child who has been diagnosed with a critical illness.

“I am proud of the funds we raised to create this grant and to grant a wish for an Arizona child dealing with a critical illness,” said Carrie Masters, Senior Executive Director of the David R. Sellers Foundation. “Our team was dedicated to showcasing the true impact of a wish and I think our donors responded to that message of hope.”

The Make-A-Wish Foundation began here in Phoenix, in 1980, when the organization granted its first wish to Christopher Grecius. This 7-year-old boy, who was battling leukemia, wished to be a police officer and had this wish granted just a couple of days before he passed on.

Nearly 200,000 wishes later, Make-A-Wish is still dedicated to their mission of helping these children believe that anything is possible. They strongly believe their efforts can be a crucial turning point and give these children the hope and strength needed to fight their illnesses. This is a fight that the DRS has been proud to lend their assistance to in the past, and looks forward to our continued support of future wishes.

“As a first-time campaign, the success of their storytelling was overwhelming,” said Fran Mallace, president and CEO of Make-A-Wish Arizona. “We are always so excited to share the impact a wish can have on a child but we are even more excited to see how that message of hope resonates with new donors like those The David R. Sellers Foundation connected us with through their campaign.”
